Passat named finalist for 2012 North American Car of the Year
Capping a landmark year for Volkswagen of America, the all-new 2012
Passat has been named one of three North American Car of the Year award
(NACOTY) finalists. This award recognizes vehicles that are benchmarks
in their respective classes and is determined by a group of 50
distinguished American and Canadian automotive journalists. The winner
will be announced at the North American International Auto Show at Cobo
Center in Detroit on January 9, 2012.
As well as stacking up awards, Volkswagen has been making waves with
consumers, producing double-digit sales growth every month in 2011. The
same day that the NACOTY jury named the Passat as a finalist, Volkswagen
announced that it has surpassed 300,000 sales for the year-to-date. The
last time VW achieved such a volume for a full year was in 2003.
